Coaching Staff


Jake Van Nostrand - Head Coach

Van Nostrand took over as head coach in 2019 at USC after serving as assistant coach and defensive coordinator for the Trojans in the 2018 season. Prior to that, Van Nostrand spent two years of coaching varsity lacrosse at Corona Del Sol in Arizona and was a varsity assistant at Baldwin in New York from 2006-2009. He helped lead Baldwin to a Nassau County championship appearance. Van Nostrand's playing experience started at Baldwin High School on Long Island where he was the captain, leading scorer and All-County selection for the county runner-up team. He continued onto Salisbury Prep in Connecticut where he again became team captain and an All-New England selection. In college Van Nostrand played for Gettysburg College and was a two-time team captain and two-time NCAA All-American in Division III. He played in two national championships during his career at Gettysburg and finished third all-time in points at the school.


Charlie Meister - GM

Charlie grew up on Long Island, where he was one of four brothers to play for Deer Park High School. All for of the Meister brothers continued their lacrosse careers at Brown University where they each captained their respective graduating years from 1971 – 1981 and the Meister/Kavan Field is named in their honor. Charlie received his MBA from USC in 1990 in Entrepreneurial Studies and Global Marketing. He started the first youth lacrosse program in LA County which directly led to the start of CIF High School Lacrosse in the Southern Section. After working with the USC team during the Fall '13 and seeing how hard the players worked, he decided he would volunteer to help them get organized. Under Charlie's leadership, they reestablished the Executive Board - which runs the organization and makes all the decisions. Charlie heads all administrative and recruiting operations.


Larken kemp - Defensive Coordinator

Larken Kemp is joining the team as defensive coordinator for the 2019 season. Kemp played defense at Brown University where he was a 4 time All-Ivy player and a 3 time All-American. After graduating, Kemp moved to Los Angeles to work at Disney and is continuing his lacrosse career in the Professional Lacrosse League for Redwoods Lacrosse Club.

Jimmy Riordan - Assistant coach

Jimmy Riordan played Division One at the University of Pennsylvania and graduated in 2006. Riordan started every game on attack his senior season for Penn, was second on the team with 25 goals and 27 points, had five multi-goal games including three with four goals, and was the only player to score in every regular-season game during the 2006 season. Riordan joined USC Lacrosse in 2019 as assistant coach.
